The sites are nearly all within easy cycling range of Cambridge. Not all the signs still exist - stumps and crosses remain. Other image collections are more comprehensive. A googlemap of East Anglian village signs and a Flickr collection are online. For Norfolk, see https://www.facebook.com/signsofanorfolksummer/.Sawston and Grantchester are amongst the places lacking signs.

"Village Signs in Cambridgeshire" (Cambridge Federation of Women's Institutes, 1986) is a good source of information. Few of the signs have plaques to explain the symbolism. Hinxton's has an easily missed double-helix. Windmills, churches, ponds, Romans and Vikings are popular.
